Welcome to the Addition With Arrays course website. This course website is the online component of the flipped classroom for learning addition using arrays. An Array is made of rows and columns with an equal number of objects in each row and an equal number of objects in each column. This course site includes course objectives and a lesson plan, which can be located within this page. Additional webpages include:
- Course materials
- Assignments
- Resources
- Comments and questions
Learning Objectives
M2.OA.4 Use addition to find the total number of objects arranged in rectangular arrays; write an equation to express the amount.
- Given a Google Slide Presentation, the students will successfully recognize the meaning of arrays, rows, columns, and repeated addition equations with 100 percent accuracy.
- Given math manipulatives, the students will be able to express different mathematical array equations in a small group setting to create four array questions (problems) with a 50 percent mastery.
- Given a EdPuzzel and Thinglink interactive learning tools, the students will properly model three examples of an array by recording their understanding of the array theory.
- Given a Google slide of Array City, the students will build five models of an array using digital Google Slide tools with 60 percent mastery on their iPads.
- Given a list of supplies and instructions, the student will build a model of Array City with an 80 percent accuracy of all information presented.

I believe individuals learn best through reflection of their experiences and through self-discovery. It is my job to guide learners by creating learning strategies that create unique, objective based activities that allows for learners to discover knowledge and transfer it to application. To accomplish these learning goals, I utilize a flipped classroom technique and incorporate many learning activities that cater to all learning styles and meet the emotional intelligence of my students.
